I like to think of her as the quintessential fairy godmother (ala mother goose): more than a wee bit eccentric but also full of mirth, wisdom and magic. I respected her rejection of the modern life style with all its devices that are not only expensive but also keep us constantly in a state of high alert. I've been inspired by this amazing woman for years. Her secluded home is located in the Vermont countryside surrounded by a garden and farm animals in the true cottage style of living. She also lived a very romanticized life based on the 1830s. Her legendary garden is mentioned in Margaret Hensel's English Cottage Gardening for American Gardens and described in more detail in Tasha Tudor's Garden by Tovah Martin and Richard Brown. ![]() ![]() She is perhaps best known as an illustrator of children's books and a world class gardener. Tasha Tudor died yesterday at the age of 92. ![]()
